UCM: Tracks Maple Grove At John
I was crossing the railway tracks that cross Maple Grove road at John St in Vineland, Ontario in the pre-sunrise light, and wondered how the view East might render (as far as colours were concerned) so I took a shot forgetting to boost the ISO. A 2 second exposure and lots of blur resulted. But when I got home, I rather like the impressionist look of the image so I decided it was just another UCM image (Unintentionally Blurred Image as opposed to the somewhat trendy ICM, Intentionally Blurred Image photo genre) and decided to process it. I liked the result. Suitable labels make it art. Sharpness can be over rated. - JW

25 seconds of water falling
.
I hadn't remembered shooting this and was pleasantly surprised when I came across it as I looked back through folders.
I had experimented combining the infrared filter with the 10-stop neutral density filter.
The result was 25 seconds of water falling. And branches waving.
Along with liking the smoothed out water, I really liked the combination of still and moving foliage. Cottonwood trunks and branches come out so well in infrared.
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday.

What makes a Bull Terrier a Bull Terrier?
Many different types of dogs can be referred to as a bulldog. Generally speaking, a bulldog is a large, strong, dog that is often red. The bulldog’s size and his dog’s ability to defend himself are what make the bulldog so well-known.
Many people think of the bulldog as the English bull Terrier, but there are many distinct differences between these two breeds. Like many large breeds, the bulldog has a naturally domineering personality. However, even though the bulldog is by nature a dominant dog, he does not go through a dominant phase in his lifetime.
This is likely because the bulldog is a highly trainable breed that is good with other dogs. This makes the bulldog a natural choice for agencies and obedience training.

The origins of the bulldog are shrouded in mystery. However, some historical accounts speak of this breed’s origins in England.
One account claims that the bulldog was first brought to England by the English Army as a mascot in the 17th century.
However, there is no proof to back up this claim. The first written account of the bulldog in England is from the 1730s. In this book, a reader refers to a “Fashionable Red Dog” that frequently accompanied the British Army on the campaigns.
The red dog referred to in this book was most likely the American Staffordshire Terrier, which is often called the American Bull Terrier.
The Biggest Problem with the Bull Terrier
Many people get involved with the bulldog simply for companionship. However, there are several health issues that affect this breed as well.
One of the most easily recognizable problems with bulldog is eye cancer. This eye cancer is called “cushingoid” eye disease and is a common problem in the breed.
Cushingoid eye disease is believed to be the result of a combination of genetics and environment. In other words, it is not clear how exactly the bulldog gets his or her eye cancer.
Health Issues for the Bull Terrier
Another common health issue that affects bulldog is hip dysplasia. This is a condition that affects the joint capsules in the front and back areas of the dog’s hips.
Unfortunately, there is no effective treatment for this condition and the only way to prevent it is to avoid breeding.
Conclusion
The bulldog is one of the most recognizable canine breeds. However, you may not know that this dog breed is not native to England or the United Kingdom. The bulldog is an imported breed that originally came from the U.S. and Europe.
The bulldog’s origins are shrouded in mystery. However, there are many different theories as to the breed’s origins. Based on what is known about the breed, it is believed that the bulldog is a breed that is associated with military forces.

Interesting Facts About Bull Terrier Dogs – From Their Origins to the Best Dog Breeds for You
Bull Terriers were once used as guard dogs and fighting dogs. These terriers were bred to run down and attack other animals, like cattle, horses, and even other bulls. A bull terrier’s fight response is so strong that it can even be seen on video. This aggressive instinct allows these dogs to live a very dangerous life. But with the help of their loving human companions, they have been reprogrammed to be much more friendly and gentle. Bull terriers are the only dog breed that has a low-key presence in the fight arena.
They are well-known for their love of cuddling and their desire to protect their human companions. This makes them a fantastic fit for any family that values a relaxed home life over active play. However, because of their aggressive nature and their high-strung temperament, they do require a lot of supervision when compared to other dog breeds. Read on to discover more about this dog breed and its dog breed counterparts.
Health and Fitness of a Bull Terrier
Because of their high prey drive and hunting instincts, the Bull Terrier is a high health and fitness-related dog breed. With the proper amount of exercise and human companionship, they can maintain a healthy weight and live a long, healthy life.
Some of the health issues that come up in bull Terrier breeding programs include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, eye disorders, Skin (brachycephaly, alopecia, etc.) allergies, and epilepsy. These health issues are commonly found in other breeds but are far more prevalent in the Bull Terrier.
To avoid these issues, owners should be mindful of keeping their dog’s activity level moderate. Exercise should be short, low impact, and often accompanied by a walk in the dog park.
History of the Bull Terrier
Bull Terriers can trace their lineage back as far as the 1820s when the English breeder Charles Mayo first bred the dogs to hunt wild boar. However, it wasn’t until the 1870s that the breed became well-known for its gentle nature and working ability.
This breed made its first appearance at a dog show when the English bulldogged John Phillips showed his dog, the Bull Terrier, to prove that these dogs were not only capable of hunting but were also suitable for pup-rearing.
Unfortunately, the breed wasn’t given a name until the 1920s, when the Kennel Club decided to codify its registry. The official record for the dog’s name is unclear, but it’s probably a combination of the English “bulldog” and the Irish “terrier.”
Dogs of the Bull Terrier
Bull Terriers are excellent family dogs. However, like all dog breeds, they do require consistent exercise and affection from their human companions. If you are unable to spend time with your dog every day due to work or extracurricular activities, consider bringing your dog’s best friend along for a visit.
Bull Terriers are known to be extremely loyal and affectionate dogs. This makes them an ideal breed to adopt as solo pets. However, because these dogs are so friendly and social, they are also great companions to have in a group.
These dogs make great companions for any age group as they mature. However, because they love to play and engage in physical activity, they do require a healthy amount of exercise. Activity levels should be medium to high and should include some type of physical activity, whether it be a run in the dog park, walking or running race, or a game of fetch.
The Bull Terrier Health Issues
Because of their high prey drive, the Bull Terrier is at risk of developing overweight and obesity. The American Kennel Club reports that one of the most common health issues among bull Terriers is therefore obesity.
Furthermore, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) reports that one of the main health issues raised by bull Terriers is “an accumulation of fat around the abdomen, thighs, and flanks.”
This fat is usually found in the form of “cottage cheese” around the middle and on the flanks and stomach.
Conclusion
The bull Terrier is a large, sturdy dog breed with a distinct fighting style. Although they may look like the bull they are named after, the bull Terrier is a friendly and loyal dog breed that makes a great pet.
This friendly, outgoing dog breed is always ready to socialize and learn new tricks. However, because of their natural bully-like nature and their tendency to be aggressive, they do require a lot of supervision when around other animals.
However, thanks to their gentle nature, patient temperament, and love for human companionship, the bull Terrier is an excellent choice for any family.
The bull Terrier is now one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. This breed is great for any family situation as it is calm, friendly and loves to cuddle. With the right amount of exercise and human companionship, the bull Terrier can stay healthy and happy for a long time.

What You Didn’t Know About Bull Terriers and How They Got Their Name
Bull Terriers are handsome, independent, and fearless dogs that make excellent family pets. They are also known as fighting dogs and are thus not suitable as pets for children or other pets. This is where their dog breeds counterparts come into play. Here are some important facts about bull terriers and their dog breeds.
What makes a Bull Terrier?
The bull terrier, also known as a fighting bull, is a large breed of dog with a long and rich history. The breed is often referred to as a pug dog or a bulldog due to its similar appearance. The breed was originally bred to hunt and capture wild animals, including large game such as boars, steers, and bison. The breed is also known for its love of wrestling and its tendency to be very playful. The bull terrier is known to be somewhat of a sensitive dog, particularly when it comes to its ears being cropped. The breed is also known to be very energetic, so it’s advisable to keep your bull terrier active.
The Bull Terrier and its dog breeds
The German Shepherd, Japanese Chin, Pit Bull, Great Pyrenees, and American Staffordshire Terrier are only a few of the many dog breeds that look similar to the bull terrier. The differences between the breeds are few and far between and are more often than not overlooked by pet owners. The fact that a dog is a breed is determined by a number of things such as their temperament, their aptitude for specific activities, their size, and their fanciers. The bull terrier is a large breed and is thus ideal for people who want a large and powerful canine companion.
Bull Terriers in the news
Bull Terriers were bred to catch and kill wild animals, especially bison and deer, and thus naturally tend to be strong, healthy, and extremely agile. The bull terrier, however, is not just a work of art on two legs. This is a very active breed that likes to spend its time off-lead playing with other dogs or having lots of fun around the house with the family. This is why it’s important to provide your bull terrier with the right companionship.
Health problems for Bull Terriers
Although the bull terrier is not intended as a breed for showmanship, some issues do occur in this breed. One such issue is aplastic anemia, a blood disorder that can occur as a result of inbreeding. Another is elbow dysplasia, which is a condition that can occur in dogs of all breeds. These conditions are preventable and can be treated with special care.
Conclusion
The bull terrier is a famous breed of dog from Europe. It is known for its agility, strength, and courage, as well as its friendly disposition. This breed is often described as a pug dog due to its similar appearance to the pug. The bull terrier is a large, strong, and healthy dog that is best suited to a serious family companion role.
Because there are so many different breeds with similar sounding names, it can be difficult for new dog owners to tell the difference between breeds. Many dog owners have had great experiences with mix-breed dogs and adopt a mixed-breed dog without ever knowing it. The bull terrier is a beautiful and popular breed that can make a great family pet.
Interesting Facts About Bull Terrier Dog Breed: From History to Health Tips!
Bull terriers are known for their fearless and protective nature. A bull Terrier’s stocky build, deep bark, and quick movements make them excellent protection dogs. However, their love of wrestling, digging, and other rough games of dog containment may not be appropriate for all dog owners.
But even though bull terriers are relatively small dogs, they can have a lot to offer – their intelligence, tenacity, and protective nature make them excellent family dogs. Here are some interesting facts about bull terriers and their dog breeds.
Size
Most breed experts recommend that bull terriers should be no larger than 42 pounds, due to their small build and tendency to put their head in the way. The average weight for a bull terrier is about 28 to 39 pounds. However, some larger bull terriers can be quite smart and reserved with the affection of the owners, while others are very affectionate and spongy with their owners.
Bull Terrier Temperament
Because bull terriers are so intelligent, they make great watchdogs. Watchdogs don’t necessarily have to bark all day – some just “sniff” the areas where they are supposed to be watchful. Because of their keen nose and low prey drive, a bull terrier’s temperament is excellent for keeping a dog under control when hiking, snowboarding, or any other environment where a dog is likely to be left alone for long periods of time.
Advantages of Owning a Bull Terrier
Owning a bull terrier can provide many advantages for the owner:
The dog is easy to train. Although they are very smart, they are also highly trainable. They will naturally learn new things as they age, especially about the family members that visit you and the area you live in. Your dog will be much happier living with you and your family than being in a kennel.
The dog is very loyal. A bull terrier’s loyalty is known to be fierce. This means they will probably never desert you, even if you are far away.
The dog is affectionate towards everyone. A bull terrier has a deep, distinct affection for its owner. Your dog will probably nip at your heels a lot, but when it sees you smile, it will probably give you a kiss.
Disadvantages of Owning a Bull Terrier
Owning a bull terrier doesn’t come with any advantages, but there are also some disadvantages that all dog owners should be aware of.
The dog has a short attention span. While most dogs will be happy to see their owners for hours on end, a bull terrier’s short attention span may make it hard for owners to get work or school completed without constantly worrying about their dog’s well-being.
The dog is not very housebroken. While most dogs are able to take care of themselves once they are outside, a bull terrier’s strong desire to play and dig makes housebreaking a challenge.
The dog is widely recognized as a “pet” dog. While most dog owners would consider a bull terrier their dog, other dog breeds are often celebrated in the media as “pets”. This can be a confusing issue for owners who are trying to integrate their dog into the household without affecting the other animals in the backyard.
Conclusion
The bull terrier is a great breed that has a lot to offer both as a pet and as a family dog.
Despite its small size, it can be quite alert and protective. This makes it an ideal dog for protecting the home and family from burglaries, carjackings, and other threats to the safety of an entire neighborhood or city.
The bull terrier’s friendly personality and large heart make it an excellent dog for any family, including the young families who are just starting out.

Two Captured Danish Ships
Joseph Mallord William Turner
1775–1851
Spithead: Two Captured Danish Ships Entering Portsmouth Harbor, 1807-09
Oil on canvas
Napoleon's plan to use Denmark's navy to block the Baltic Sea and strangle British shipping was foiled in 1807 when British forces seized the Danish fleet. Turner first exhibited this painting in 1808 with the title Two Captured Danish Ships Entering Portsmouth Harbor. If it was intended as a patriotic celebration, it was soon overtaken by political backlash. Denmark was officially neutral, and the British action was seen as dangerously provocative. When Turner displayed the picture again in 1809, he changed the title to Boat's Crew Recovering an Anchor.
